Philippines Mission 2010

The Philippines has a Catholic background and may appear spiritual in may ways, however for most Filipinos this only an association to religion and a personal reality.

In July this year we will partner with World Vision, Operation Mobilisation and the Cebu Missionary Foundation who have a thriving mission work to people of all ages in the dumps and ghettos of Manilla and Cebu respectively.

Activities:

The team will initially be involved with observing and participating in relief work amongst the poverty stricken and marginalised of Cebu in a variety of activities. These activities will include street outreach which may involve music, dance, drama and sport. We will also be involved in feeding programs and education programs for children living in the rubbish dumps of Cebu, which will provide many opportunities for the team.  We will also be ministering in local churches where possible.

Purpose:

  • To expose the members of the team to the global issue of poverty and humanitarian work amongst those trapped in such circumstances.
  • To experience God and his people at work in the midst of great injustice and poverty.
  • To experience a different culture and develop the worldview of the team members and subsequently the Church or College of which they are a part.
